MRS. UMPHREY WANTS
TO WELCOME YOU TO
HER 5th GRADE CLASSROOM!!!!
My name is Nicole Umphrey, and the 2009-2010 school year will be my thirteenth year with the Sturgeon R-V Schools.  I grew up in Saint Joseph, Missouri and received a Bachelors Degree in both Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Missouri Western State University in December of 1995.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mike, my 11 year-old daughter, Kaylee, and my 13 year-old son, Kaleb.  I love to go hunting and sometimes fishing, when the weather is not too hot.   My family also likes to participate in trapshoots all over Missouri.
Writing poetry is also something I like to do when I have the time.  I have even had one poem published in a book.   My dream is to someday write a children's book.  EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A DREAM!

Here are some of my favorite things:
BOOKS:  True Confessions of Charolette Doyle, Where the Red Fern Grows, Harris and Me
                and The Old Willis Place

T.V. SHOWS:  I hate to admit it, but I like "reality shows".  I also like to watch a good movie on the Lifetime or Hallmark channels.

MOVIES:  Grease (Go Grease Lightening!), Titanic (Get the tissues), H.S. Musical (Disney)

COLLECTIBLES:  Family pictures, candles

RESTAURANTS:   Olive Garden or El Vaqueros

SPORTS:  Softball and Basketball

SCHOOL SUBJECTS: Writing and Math

FAVORTIE COLORS: Green and Blue

RAINY DAY ACTIVITIES:  Crosswords, writing poetry, sleeping

CLOTHING:   Jeans and an over-sized T-shirt or sweatshirt

SMELLS: Clothes fresh out of the dryer, a baby smothered in lotion, rainy days

ENJOYABLE THINGS:   Hearing my kids giggle, watching my students succeed,
being with my family, taking pictures of the world around me.

MOTTOS:
1. Don't forget that as long as you have dreams you are not poor in character!
2. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!
3.  You can't succeed by watching others. Get in there and get those hands dirty!
4.  When at first you don't succeed, .....try, try again!
