Dear Sturgeon Students, Staff, and Families,
This is certainly not the way I envisioned ending the 2019-2020 school year. As a community, we have experienced many firsts this year. Emotions have ranged from uncertainty to hope, and I am sure, in some cases, frustration. There has been the disappointment of postponed and canceled events that will always mark this school year. At the same time, we will remember the parades for our students and the fireworks at Senior Night forever.
Personally, I have watched in awe and pride as our community and school have worked to provide for each other during this time of uncertainty. The feelings of hope, support, and community will be what I take with me from this school year. I hope you are able to find silver linings in the cloudy end to our school year.
As we close the school year, if you have not been able to collect your personal items and/or return school items, please reach out to your building and arrange a time to drop off and pick up materials.
The official end of the school year is May 20th. At that time, we will stop our food service until in seat summer school begins. When seated summer school begins, we will offer walk in food service only for non-summer school attendees. We will not deliver food beyond the 20th of May.
The district has polled parents regarding summer school, and while we have made plans to have summer school, there are variables that we cannot predict right now.
- High School Summer School will be 100% virtual this year. Students will be issued Chromebooks and complete courses virtually. Students will have access to the district internet services through the WiFi available in our parking lots or by using their home service. High School Summer School will run June 1st to June 26th. If you have any questions, please contact Jeff Carr (firstname.lastname@example.org).
- K-8 Seated summer school is scheduled for July 20th to August 14th. There are a lot of unknowns about what this session will look like. We will continue to update those who are interested in this option. We did want the dates to be decided, so families could make plans. If you have questions, please reach out to Jeff Carr (email@example.com).
The April Board of Education and Bond elections were moved to June 2nd. As that date gets closer please visit the Sturgeon School District Website to look at the PROP K.I.D.S. No Tax-Rate Increase Bond information. If you have questions about absentee voting or ballot locations, please visit the following websites.
