Sturgeon News

There have been a lot of questions about Covid-19, especially the Delta variant.  On July 23, 2021 the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released an updated guidance document to Missouri schools.  The guidance recommends vaccination first and foremost.  For those who cannot vaccinate, it recommends masking, physical distancing, screening, contact tracing, and other preventative measures (hand-washing, staying home when sick, cleaning, etc.).

At the last Sturgeon R-V School Board meeting, it was decided Sturgeon R-V Schools would move forward with a Masks are Strongly Encouraged directive, much like what was in place last school year in conjunction with other best practices (creating student cohorts, physically distancing when possible, etc.).  Additionally, a new HVAC system has been installed in the Sturgeon Elementary-Middle School to, in part, improve air quality.

Student safety is our FIRST consideration.  Knowing in-person learning is a priority for all, we will continue to monitor the recommendations of local health care officials and guidance from other health and education organizations.
