Dear Sturgeon R-V School District Families and Staff:

Prior to our dismissal on March 17th, we sent packets home with every student. Our teachers have continued to work to connect with all our students to provide support and normalcy during this period of closure. As we begin preparations to end this school year, we wanted to communicate the plans for the remainder of the school year.

As you are aware, the governor announced that face to face learning had concluded for the 19-20 school term. The district has implemented remote and virtual learning activities in response to the prior closings and has continued those activities. As we prepare to end the 19-20 school year, the district has one more round of packets to send out to families. The packets will contain instructions about returning work and as always if you have specific questions please reach out to your students’ teachers or administrator. Those packets will be mailed Monday, April27th. If you do not receive your packet by Wednesday, April 29th, please contact the district.

Our focus during this time is to review skills, build capacity for students, and reinforce knowledge from this school year. We do not intend to be punitive in our process or hurt students and families.

Academics

Grades K-5

Packets will be mailed to students. These are meant to enrich and review materials that have already been covered. Students participating in the free lunch program will have their packets included with the delivery on Monday, April 27.

Grades 6-8

Packets will be mailed to students who do not have access to the internet. Students participating in the free lunch program will have their packets included with the delivery on Monday, April 27. Devices will be available to students who need one and have access to the internet. Currently, teachers are reaching out to students using Zoom meetings, email, and Google Classroom.

High School

Packets will be mailed to students who do not have access to the internet. Students participating in the free lunch program will have their packets included with the delivery on Monday, April 27. Devices will be available to students who need one and have access to the internet. Currently, teachers are reaching out to students using Zoom meetings, email, and Google Classroom.

The goal of this work is to help students stay engaged and maintain connections with their teachers. Both packets and online platforms will contain approximately 3 weeks worth of activities. These materials are recommended for students to maintain academic engagement but cannot harm their individual grades. Teachers will continue to reach out to students through various means to maintain contact and provide support.

Food Services

The district is offering a seamless option which allows all children in the district (Clark and Sturgeon - in and out of town) to receive free meals. We ask that families email foodservice@sturgeon.k12.mo.us or call 573-687-3515 to sign up for food pick up. If you are unable to come to Sturgeon to pick up food, please communicate that to us, and we will work towards a solution.
