Leadership and Recognition 

Each year, Sturgeon FFA members have the opportunity to apply for personal recognition and leadership positions. Due to their achievements in FFA though their leadership, SAE project, and CDE Experience, these applications can be selected for one or more of the following Recognition or Leadership offerings.

Application Completion Process

FFA members are expected to complete the Google Form application below or listed on the Sturgeon FFA Website. Applications are expected to be submitted by April 15 at 5:00 p.m.. Unless stated otherwise.

Application Judging Process

A committee selected by the Agricultural Educator, which should include one english teacher, one other vocational teacher, and a school board member, will review applications on or around April 20.

The committee will review the presented applications and submitted the most qualified or highest ranking applications to the Agricultural Educator to recognition or place into the Officer Interview Score Sheet.

Chapter Officer Application

Due September 27. Details for this application are outlined in the bylaws.

Highest Ranking Senior FFA Selection Application

Details for this application are outlined in the bylaws.

National Convention Attendee Application

Due September 27. Details for this application are outlined in the bylaws.

Recognition Application

Greenhand Degree Application

Open to all first year FFA members. An applicant must successfully complete all requirements to receive his or her Greenhand degree.

Chapter Degree Application

Open to all FFA members holding a Greenhand Degree prior to April 1. An applicant must successfully complete all requirements to receive his or her Greenhand degree.

Honorary Chapter Degree

Individuals who have provided exceptional service on a national level to agriculture, agricultural education, or FFA are eligible for the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree. Additionally, teachers who have created high-quality agricultural education programs which inspire and motivate their students to strive for success are eligible.

Star Application

The Chapter Star Recognition is awarded to the FFA member that demonstrates the top production agriculture supervised agricultural experience in the nation. The member must demonstrate outstanding achievement, active FFA participation and an exemplary scholastic record.

Star Categories include: Chapter Star Farmer, Chapter Star Placement, Chapter Star AgriBusiness, Chapter Star AgriScience, Chapter Star Greenhand, Chapter Star Discovery, and Blue and Gold (Senior)

Proficiency Application

The Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs), have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers.

Proficiency Categories include: Ownership, Placement, AgriBusiness, AgriScience

Proficiency Areas include: Agricultural Communication, Agricultural Education, Agricultural Mechanics Design and Fabrication, Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance, Agricultural Processing, Agricultural Sales, Agricultural Services, Beef Production, Dairy Production, Diversified Agriculture Production, Diversified Crop, Diversified Horticulture, Diversified Livestock Production, Environmental Science and Natural Resources Management, Equine Science, Fiber and/or Oil Crop Production, Food Science and Technology, Food Service, Forage Production, Forest Management and Products, Fruit Production, Goat Production, Grain Production, Home and/or Community Development, Landscape Management, Nursery Operations, Outdoor Recreation, Poultry Production, Sheep Production, Small Animal Production and Care, Specialty Animal Production, Swine Production, Turf Grass Management, Vegetable Production, Veterinary Science, and Wildlife Management.

Scholarship Recognition

The Scholarship Recognition is awarded in each grade level (9-12) to the student with the highest grade in the agriculture course will be awarded the scholarship award.

Dekalb Recognition

The Scholarship Recognition award to a student for their hard work, dedication and passion for pursuing a fulfilling career in agriculture. Must be a junior or senior.

Graduation Sash Recognition

All FFA members can wear the sash, but to be eligible to keep, they must have

GPA of 2.75 or above

4 years of FFA membership

Has met two of the following requirements:

Served as an officer

Participated in an event at state or nation level.

Received State FFA Degree.

Has received the state leadership pin and attended a minimum of 2 other area, district, or state leadership conferences or attended the Missouri Agribusiness academy.

FFA members will be required to meet any other criteria established by the local school board.
