Dear Sturgeon Family,

First, I hope that these crazy times find you and your families well. We continue to serve meals on a daily basis -- with upwards of 70 lunches and breakfasts served daily – and online learning and check-ins with teachers are happening in all grades. I realize that this is a stressful time for many of our families, and I want you to know that we will continue to be here for you.

I’m confident we will come out of this stronger because we have such a resilient and caring community. It’s been heartwarming to see our school district come together in such a positive way, and I am so thankful.

Although we have pressed the pause button on the school improvement communications, I wanted to give you an update on the plan moving forward. First, as I’m sure you are aware; the voting date has been changed to June 2nd. The “Prop Kids” school improvement issue will be on the ballot the first Tuesday in June. Our steering committee thought it best to suspend active information, other than Facebook posts, in light of the Covid-19 situation. We will be ramping up again soon because we have been told by the community, via surveys, that these safety and learning environment upgrades are essential to our parents, teachers and students. Please visit our school website and social media sites to receive and view updated information about the Prop Kids ballot issue.

Pending a successful vote, we will change the sequence of improvements, prioritize safety and security measures this summer, and move some other construction improvements out until the fall of 2020 and to summer of 2021. This is done to make sure we stage and plan as to not interrupt the learning environment.

I wanted to thank you for your continued feedback. We are listening and using your feedback to drive our planning efforts. We have a great plan and look forward to providing our students with the best.
