Sturgeon R-V School District Announces Dr. Melia Franklin as Next Superintendent

Dr. Melia Franklin has been selected as the new superintendent for the Sturgeon R-V School District. Dr. Franklin is currently the Executive Director of Secondary Learning with the Ozark School District, where she has been employed since 2016.  Dr. Franklin has served as the English Assessment Director with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Jefferson City, MO and she was a longtime English teacher in the Marceline R-V School District prior to her tenure with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  Dr. Franklin has an admirable record of working to improve student achievement, and strong staff/community engagement. Dr. Franklin has a Doctoral Degree from the University of Nebraska and a Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri.

Incoming Sturgeon R-V School District Superintendent Melia Franklin - “I am thrilled to join the Sturgeon Community and R-V School District.   As one who has spent the last 25 years in education, I count it a privilege to be selected as the next school leader.  My husband—who’s originally from Moberly—and I are excited to make Sturgeon our home and look forward to meeting teachers, staff, parents, students, and community members soon!”

The Sturgeon R-V School District is excited to welcome Melia Franklin, her husband Bob to our community.  Bob and Melia have three grown children and six grandchildren. Dr. Franklin will assume her new role on July 1st, 2021.  She replaces Geoff Neill who will take over as superintendent of the Gasconade County R-1 School District in Hermann, MO.
